Long Beach CA Boat Detailing Services

By Michelle Johnson

Detailing your own boat is not a very big deal and you do not have to do it all at one time; you can do a little every day and save a lot of money and have a better job than if a detailer did the job. The only tool that may help with Long Beach CA boat detailing is a buffer but you can always apply the products by hand.

Elements such as very high temperature, heavy rainfall, too much sunlight and the spray of salt from the sea will always take their toll on the vessel sooner than later if it is left neglected and exposed. General deterioration of various aspects of the vessel such as the paintjob, the metal coating, leather seats and others not only interferes with the aesthetic appeal of the boat but also makes the resale value to greatly depreciate.

Think of this way, it's the working actor, who generally gets the big break. So if you are waiting to get the bigger fish, those clients with the Mega-Yachts, then you need to be out working where people see you, and offering weekly up-keeping and cleaning services.

Now one of the draw backs to ultra-clean water is the cost. De-ionized works the best, with the C and W tanks, but they are heavy, and hard to lug around, even on a cart pulling them onto the dock, and just try off loading them and returning them to a trailer, van, or pick-up. Not so easy, especially for a petite woman or smaller man without a lot of extra body weight after a long-day of washing vessels.

Wipe off with a clean soft cotton towel and you will see what your gel coat really looks like. Then we want to apply the polish using the Meguiar's vessel polish and applying the same way we applied the oxidation remover. Now we want to apply the Meguiar's vessel wax and we want to use the same steps as the other applications and we want to make sure we do not leave any areas that we do not apply wax to.

When you are doing the above procedures in dock or in slip, and you are using electrical cords with your machine polisher be extremely careful when working around water. You'll need to keep the cable out of water if at all possible. Be extra cautious when working on a boat in its slip. Electrocution is no fun, ask anyone on death row.

Merely loving the water, sailing, or being down at the marina is not enough. Yes, that helps, but this is about business, about making money, and servicing clients. So, this is where you need to separate your nautical passion with a dose of sober reality, if you decide to go to the next step. Any SCORE or ACE small business counselor will try to talk you out of starting a business, and for good reason - most small businesses fail in the first 5-years. So, if you are going to make this work, you have to be in it to win it, and your head has to be in the game - you've got to want it - and you must be committed and dedicated to go the long haul.

There are many things you can do such as help a maritime museum refurbish an old vessel or host a fundraiser for the Sea Cadets. Many Boy Scout Groups have the Sea Explorers sub-group and hosting a vessel wash fundraiser for a day means you will get your name out to the parents of all these kids who probably also own their own vessels and have friends who also own vessels. Sometime public relations can get your business name in places you never thought possible. Consider all this.
