Chatbots & The Biggest Pros And Cons Told By Long Island Advertising Agencies

By Rob Sutter

Chatbots, for those not in the know, are computerized systems designed to communicate with users. These are especially common on websites that offer services, which include social media and ecommerce platforms. With that said, if you want to discuss chatbots at length, it's important to take the good with the bad. Here are just a few of their pros & cons that Long Island advertising agencies will be able to discuss.

PRO - They respond quickly. One of the biggest pros of chatbots, according to companies like fishbat, is that they are quick to respond. If you have a simple question to ask, such as where an item can be found in retail, the chatbot you're speaking to will be able to respond almost instantaneously. This reduces the amount of time spent waiting, which tends to result in a more positive user experience. Any Long Island advertising agency would be hard-pressed to disagree.

CON - They may speak in ways that are unfamiliar to some. Chatbots can speak English, but this doesn't necessarily mean that their structures will be familiar. After all, the robotic nature of computers means that language may not flow well to some. As a matter of fact, this can detract from the user experience. Chatbots are useful, without question, but this is one of the negatives that cannot be easily ignored.

PRO - They are minimal from a design standpoint. While you may think that minimalism hinders chatbots, it can be argued that such a quality works to their benefit. After all, digital media has evolved to such a degree that simplicity actually helps programs stand out. When there's less for the human mind to register, better user experiences come about. Anyone that has developed a chatbot can tell you the same.

CON - They don't stack up to real human interaction. When you're speaking to a sales representative or customer service worker over the phone, it provides you with a sense of comfort. You know that your needs are being attended to, which is nothing short of welcoming. With that said, real human interaction tends to be lost when it comes to chatbots. You don't feel as though you're speaking to a real person. Chatbots have developed in recent years, but still struggle to stack up in this respect.
