What To Know About Pile Driver Sales

By Della Monroe

There are many different pieces of equipment that are used when it comes to construction. Pile driver refers to a mechanical device that is used when driving poles into the soil. This is often needed to create foundational support for buildings and similar structures. Pile driver sales are offered through many companies and people.

With any big purchases, people need to put time and effort into conducting research. They should compare what is available. Consider the make and model, price, condition of a device and more. It is important that the cost fits the quality and condition of the device being sold. People buying from companies might be giving returns or warranties, however not all sellers offer these options.

Traditional drivers usually have heavy weights placed between guides. This is done so that they can freely slide up and down in a straight, single line. The weight is raised, which might be done through diesel, steam, manual labor or hydraulics. Once the weight reaches the highest level, it is released so that the smashes down onto the pole and drives it into the ground.

There are different types that are used in the modern day. These include the diesel hammer, vertical travel lead systems, piling rig, vibratory driver or extractor, hydraulic press-in, and hydraulic hammer. Each one has its own uses, as well as positives and negatives. It is believed that some version of this has existed since the 1400s.

Driving devices that are used in ancient times involved animal or manual labor to lift and dropping down the heavy weights. Typically this was done by applying pulleys. Equipment employed in the modern day use different solutions to guide the police and raise weights.

Diesel hammer refers to a modern devices that has a two-stroke engine and is large. Weight used is called a piston and the device connecting to the top of a pole is the cylinder. The vertical travel lead systems or VTL systems are another option. These were developed around the 1970s and patented by a man named C W Birmingham. This system is ideal for job sites that are level and contain little to no obstructions.

Hydraulic hammer is a newer kind that is used instead of air hammers or diesels for driving in precast concrete, timber piles or steel pipe. These are considered more environmentally friendly than older hammers that are less efficient and generate more pollutants and noise. A hydraulic press-in is considered specialty equipment that installs the piles utilizing hydraulic rams to press the piles down into the ground.

Vibratory pile hammer involves eccentric weights. These counter rotate and are powered via hydraulic motors. They are designed to work in a way that vertical vibrations transfer into a pile and the horizontal vibrations cancel. Piling rigs are the construction machines utilized for piling in foundation engineering. The device is primarily applied for drilling various types of clay and soil. Typically it is needed for diaphragms, cast-in-place piles, foundation reinforcement and similar tasks.
