Motorcycle tail lights have new modifications available for use. They are called LED retrofits and are also available for courtesy lights and warning turn signals. Road conditions do not affect their performance thus its popularity with many riders.

Motorcycle led lights draw less current than the incandescent lighting fixtures. They can provide brighter illumination and is more visible than the ordinary bulbs. The current drawn by a stock unit is about 600 milliamps for the tail light and 2.7 amps when the brake light is used. The replacement led consumes only 185 milliamps and 1.78 amps respectively. There is also a substantial reduction for the motorcycle turn signals as well with no measurable heat involved.

One has to be careful when choosing the led replacement as some are substandard and low-priced alternatives. Low priced system would sometimes give less illumination than that of the original equipment system. Superior manufactured units do have a bearing in functionality and quality. It is important to be vigilant when making choices on what light emitting diode system the bike rider needs.

Add-on kits attached to the rear of the motorcycle are quite different from custom fitting that attaches itself directly the original housing. If the unit is of the antique, vintage, or a collector's item, it would make sense to retain the originality of the model as much as possible. Older units tend to have poor lighting qualities and the led technology vastly improves illumination. Signal bulbs can also benefit from this device as the original housing is still used.

Blinkers and modulators are compatible with this new alternative. Quick response time is noticeable as against the standard type of lighting. One can note the disparity which is dramatic and evident. Brilliance and saturation is the effect established by the LED bulbs. When the brakes are engaged, the assembly lights-up with brightness of the colors.

Not everyone would like to go the way of the customized system. Specifications have to be specified and engineered to ones' specification. Custom systems can be handmade and fitted into what you want. There is quite an expense if one is to go this way to have a special system fabricated.

Motorcycle tail lights using the new led technology in fact have a long life span which could go as much as 100,000 hours of use. Other facts are that signal winkers could be incorporated into the brake light systems. Another one is that original connectors are used so as to mitigate splicing failures.
