The day began with the sounding of the alarm clock. It wrestled me awake and I rolled out of bed and dragged my feet into the bathroom. I showered and shaved and when I was ready I got my fiance up so she too could ready herself. It was a special day for us; it was the day we were going to finally decide on the wedding rings we both wanted. After closely examining gold silver and tungsten carbide we were just about ready to make a decision.
This was a day that was a long time coming. For months now we were going back and forth trying to decide what would be the best rings for us. We searched through multiple dealers as we talked with friends and family and poured through the internet. As our searched narrowed it came down to two different choices; gold or tungsten.
It boiled down to a fight of facts over what tungsten carbide was. I wanted to go with the tungsten and she wanted to go with the gold. My thought process led me to the conclusion that tungsten was the better choice because it ranked high on the Mohs scale of hardness. The assurance of strength and hardness made it stand apart from gold. Plus, liked how it looked.
She on the other hand had done her share of research beyond me. She explained to me that these tungsten rings are no good because they aren't even made from metal but instead are a kind of ceramic. This fact also makes tungsten rings extremely brittle so even though it won't scratch up it could crackright in two under the right circumstances.
After the final discussion and when we were both good and ready we went out and went with the gold. I still secretly like the tungsten but I knew she was right with the points she had made. Plus, I guess learning to compromise on things is something every lasting marriage goes through.
