Medicine is changing thanks to robotic surgery Riverside. Traditionally, operating rooms would be filled with an anesthetist, a number of nurses and a minimum of two surgeons. To perform a basic operation required many medical personnel, robots are now changing this reality.
With the use of this technology, only two nurses, one surgeon and an anesthetist are required to perform an operation. The surgical robot is managed by a doctor who works from a computer that is stationed outside of the operating room. This allows for telesurgery to take place.
Telesurgery allows a surgeon to perform a procedure from miles away as though he or she is in the operating room. The surgeon no longer has to stand over the patient, but rather at a computer station further away in the same room, the next room and, in the near future, a completely different location.
The doctor operates the computer which causes the robot to perform the desired actions. Right now, this is the only setback to procedures being performed more remotely. At this point, doctors and technology work well in the same room to carry out the procedure. The machine responds in real time to the data, which has been inputted by the surgeon.
One important benefit of this advancement in medical technology is the fact that it can potentially reduce medical costs. Two other important advantages are the fact that operations are done with more precision and reduced trauma. This results in less pain and quicker recovery time.
