Salzburg - A Historical And Educational Spot

Those who have seen The Sound of Music are familiar with the city of Salzburg. While it looks beautiful on the movie screen, it's even more stunning in real life. You might also recognize it as the place where Mozart was born. Salzburg is nestled in central Austria, very close to the border with Germany. It's recognizable for its stunning baroque-style buildings, interesting history, and colorful culture. If you find yourself around Residenz Square around 11am and 6pm, stop for a moment and listen to the 300 year old Glockenspiel play.

While you may find yourself caught up in all the history of Salzburg, try to make a little time to shop and sample some of Salzburg's best known dishes. Two shopping spots - Getreidegasse and Alter Markt Square - are known for their quaint and interesting old-fashioned stores. They are popular shopping destinations. If beer is a much-loved part of your life, head to Mllner Bru beer garden. Here you can relax in a stunning garden and drink famous Austrian Mrzen. Another great place to get food is a farm market, where you can buy fresh pastries, cheeses, fruits, and a lot more.
